The 2007 calendar year marked a milestone in Chapter History for the Georgia Chapter of the Realtors Land Istitute.  As one of the more pro-active chapters in the Realtors Land Institute family, the GA Chapter had a membership this past year of over 100 members.  The Georgia Chapter has been a model chapter  for other RLI Chapters in the Southeast  offering educational classes and programs covering land issues  such as conservation easements, mapping, forestry, water rights, and a multitude of other courses designed for the real estate broker specailaizing in land brokerage.

GA RLI officers were recenlty installed at their annual chapter meeting held at the Georgia Forestry Association headquarters in Forsyth, GA.  New officers for 2008 calendar year are as follows.President-  Wood Hughes, ALC, CCIM,( Wood Hughes and Associates), President Elect- Stan Bennett (Southern Heritage Land Co.), Secretary-Julian Morgan (South Georgia Land and Timber) and Treasurer- Mark Pace , ALC (Southern Land and Realty).

Georgia Chapter RLI Installs 2007 Officers

Wood joins an elite group of just over 1,000 land specialists, only 14 of whom are in Georgia , who have attained an expert level of knowledge and experience. Recognized throughout North America as the pinnacle of achievement for land real estate specialists, the Accredited Land Consultant ( ALC ) designation is awarded to RLI members who meet rigorous knowledge and experience requirements.

A real estate professional with the Accredited Land Consultant ( ALC ) designation has studied the intricacies of land transactions and can help buyers and sellers alike make informed real estate decisions. For instance, compared to buying property with a building on it, purchasing a parcel of land might seem like a simple transaction. But buyers must weigh many complex issues, such as riparian rights, projected yield and income of farmable tracts and 1031 Tax Exchanges, all of which can present both opportunities and complications to any land purchase.

Accredited Land Consultants are members of the RLI Land Network, a business network of over 2,100 land specialists throughout North America . ALC designees may market their clients' properties online at RLILand.Net and in marketing sessions sponsored by local RLI Chapters or at RLI national meetings. FORMER SCHOOL PRINCIPAL JOINS REALTY ORGANIZATION
July 1, 2003

Gloria Adams, recently retired principal of M. D. Roberts Middle School in Clayton County , has joined the real estate organization of Wood Hughes & Associates, a land brokerage practice affiliated with Metro Brokers GMAC Commercial. In announcing Ms. Adams affiliation, Wood Hughes added, "I'm very excited by having such a strong administrator taking charge of the follow up in our growing land sales practice as we expand throughout the Suburban Atlanta Metro Area."

As Treasurer and Client Service Specialist, Ms. Adams will be managing the business side and making sure that customers and clients of Wood Hughes & Associates receive world-class service. She brings thirty-one years in education, the last 14 as a principal of Jonesboro Middle School and was the principal appointed to start up M. D. Roberts Middle School , both of Clayton County Public Schools.
